Let Us Help You Get Your Connecticut Nursing License

Registered nurses who hold a current out-of-state license can apply for Connecticut nursing licensure by an endorsement through the Connecticut State Department of Public Health. American Mobile’s licensing experts are available to answer questions and help make the process as simple as possible.

When applying for your Connecticut RN license, you will need to provide:

Verification of all RN licenses held, current or expired. Most states utilize the National Council of State Boards of Nursing's Nursys System to verify licenses electronically. If your state of licensure does not participate in Nursys, you’ll need to send the verification form to the state and request a written verification be sent directly to the Connecticut Board of Nursing. • A completed application and fee in the amount of $180.00. License applications are only accepted online.

Official nursing school transcripts are normally not required as long as the Nursys system contains your educational information. Otherwise, you will need to work with the Connecticut Board of Nursing to provide that information.

Connecticut is not part of the Nurse Licensure Compact, the multi-state agreement sponsored by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). All nurses with an active out-of-state license need to apply for Connecticut nurse licensure by endorsement.

How Long Does it Take to get a CT Nursing License?

It takes approximately four weeks to receive a permanent nursing license in Connecticut after all documentation has been received.

If you hold a current, valid registered nurse license in another U.S. state or territory, you are eligible for a 120-day, a non-renewable temporary permit to practice nursing in Connecticut pending issuance of full licensure. Once your complete application is received and approved, a temporary permit should be issued within 15 business days.

How to Renew Your Connecticut Nursing License

Registered nurse licenses in Connecticut expire in the first birth month following issuance and are renewable annually thereafter. RNs will receive notification approximately 60 days prior to their license expiration date and will be required to renew online and pay a fee of $105. Continuing education is not required for license renewal.

Do Multi-State Licenses Work in Connecticut?

Connecticut is not part of the Nurse Licensure Compact, which allows nurses in more than 39 states in the compact to work across state lines without getting an additional license. Nurses with a compact state license will still need to apply for Connecticut RN licensure by endorsement.
